Over the past 36 years, Ted Dawson has received a number of important awards and commissions for composition.  To date, the most notable of these was the 1995 SOCAN Prize  - Canada's premier award for orchestral composition.   In addition to support from both the Canada Council for the Arts and the Laidlaw Foundation, Dr. Dawson has worked on a number of projects with Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan, the Czech Republic, and Denmark.
